OVERVIEW - Jesus' Temptation - Alone in the Desert!

Objectives and Life Application:

  • Children will describe the account of Jesus' temptation in the desert. (All)
  • Children will locate and describe the desert area in which Jesus was tempted. (CyberSpace)
  • Children will recognize that Jesus was tempted. (All)
  • Children will recognize that the Holy Spirit and Jesus' knowledge of scripture helped him resist temptation. (All)
  • Children will recognize that the Bible helps them discern right from wrong. (All)
  • Children will recognize that Jesus was obedient to God. (All)
  • Children will understand that we must be obedient to God and authorities in our lives. (All)
  • Children will describe temptations in their lives. (All)
  • Children will discuss ways to resist temptation. (All)
  • Children will memorize Luke 4:1-13 (All).

Overview of the Workshops:

Music: For Younger Children: Music should be played during activities or used if you have extra time at the end of a workshop.

Sunday Morning Live: act out modern day temptation situations

Focus:

Bible Quest: play a life-sized board game about resisting temptation

Focus: reviewing story, resisting temptation

Solid Rock Cafe: make Temptation Rock muffins

Focus:

CyberSpace: create a newspaper article with their own photos done in drama class. Write a paragraph describing the temptation faced in drama.

Focus: resisting temptation

Holy Word Theatre: watch video or watch video clip only from Willy Wonka (grades 1-4) and Jesus video (temptation scene) (grades 5-6). Older children will do a temptation scrapbook.
